A look back at Sherbrooke Food Safety Week - 2023 Edition

From October 2 to 6, 2023, Champ d'actions partners, the Sherbrooke Food Security Collective, held their very first Sherbrooke Food Safety Week having the theme “Food security: a collective recipe! ".

Workshops, conferences, discussions and videos; a variety of activities took place to mobilize stakeholders and put issues and solutions relating to food security “on the table”!

The honorary presidency of this Week was held by Mr. Daniel Charbonneau, chef-owner of restaurant l'Empreinte and Ms. Mélanie Alain, head of The Big Table.

On day 1 of the forum, October 4, was a memorable day of conferences and panels for partners and the public. It was an opportunity to discuss food security with specialists on the issue. For the partner organizations, this day was a great introduction to the reflections that took place the next day.

Here is the program for this day:

Description of conferences and speaker presentations

Day 2 of the forum, October 5, was a day reserved for organizations and actors directly active in the field in order to exchange and reflect on current and future challenges linked to food security. Discussions about the strengths and challenges of the environment, in response to the situation of food insecurity experienced in the region, led to concrete avenues of action, some of which were prioritized by the collective and are currently being implemented. This day was of capital importance in the course of the Collective's current action plan.
